Long Gone Mania!

So we have two shows coming up through March – for a label that didn’t do shit for so long, we’re trying to get back into monthly shows.  The first show is at the Primitive Room on Friday, March 9th and the second show is at Black Bear Lodge on Wednesday, March 21st.

The Primitive Room (part of the Spring Hill Hotel) hosts a night of doo-wop and grime!!

Featuring the doo-wop cosmonauts themselves, the Majors, straight from the recording booth - their debut Cassette is due to be released through Long Gone this year. We also have the satanic rituals of, Occults, and the surf-pop sensibility of, Teen Sensations (feat. members of Velociraptor, Tiny Migrants, Sulphur Lights & Keep On Dancin's). And finally a band that’s one day away from retirement, Woodboot.

Doors open at 8pm - $10 entry – Come and get fucked up!!

Woodboot – 9pm
Teen Sensations – 9:45pm
Occults – 10:30pm
The Majors – 11:15pm

Black Bear Lodge hosts the night of dirt poor shenanigans!!

Featuring the band voted #1 to end up on a cattle farm, the Venereals – they’re releasing livestock on the front of their album. We also have country party starters, Sewers, and a man who’s voice is too deep for soul, Fred Wood.

$6 entry from 8pm – Come and get fucked up!!

Fred Wood – 8:30pm
Sewers – 9:15pm
Venereals – 10:00pm

And just in case you thought that wasn’t enough, there may be a third show at the Waiting Room on Sunday, 25th March – but stay tuned for that one.

If your stumped for something to do on your Saturday night then head down to Basement 243 and check out Lovely Legs as they play the Post Apocalyptic Swell #1 alongside, Occults, Aquatic Lifeforms and the Barbiturates.  They’ll also be on Slurred Saturdays on 4ZZZ between 6 and 8pm with Emily and Conwae – them bitches are totally shit!!

Lovely Legs will be release a tape through Long Gone this year.  Couldn’t be more excited.  Nothing like a bit of cunt punk.

Next week is also the Black Lips, and Cannon and Tiny Migrants support on Friday Night at the Zoo.  Tickets are available here.
Don’t miss out because their shows have been selling out left, right and centre.

Tropical Punk = Tropical Weather

Canberra’s very own tropical punk’s, the Fighting League, are playing their debut show in Brisbane this week, for the launch of their debut 12” record ‘Tropical Paradise’ which is out now through Dream Damage Record (ACT heaven).  Though it appears they’ve brought tropical weather with them, if you don’t come to this show they will track you down and bring the  Recorded and mastered by Bruce Callaway (from the fucking Saints dude…get it) the album is “…sounding like the bastard offspring of the Ramones and the B-52’s.” – Neil Evans, Tone Deaf. So come down and see them this Friday night at Woodland (for a measly $10) and pick up a copy of their balls-good record - support comes from our very own douchebag team - Cannon and Tiny Migrants.

Check out their listening wax HERE.

Or check their video for 'Calypso' below:

Also during this month, Cannon went out on an east coast tour for their latest EP ‘Blerndaddy’, and they came back empty handed.  Did you miss out? Cannon have prepared and extra 10 copies which will be available at the Fighting League this Friday…but if you miss out, you’ll never get a physical copy again you dumb hunk.  A digital copy will be available soon, so keep your trousers open.

Speaking of the douchebag team (we’ll discuss how well this will hold), Cannon and Tiny Migrants have both been announced as the Brisbane support for the Black Lips on their upcoming March 2012 Australia tour.  Circle Pit nabbed main support in Sydney & Melbourne with Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys opening Sydney and the Frowning Clouds in Melbourne.  Down on the Gold Coast support comes from the gundam juggernaut that is Velociraptor

Tickets to the Brisbane show are available HERE.

In other news, Melbourne resident, and Europe’s P-Trash Records favourite Brat Farrar (long ago he was once in the Russian Roulettes) is heading over their way for a massive 40+ dates with his touring band, the Fazio Rhythm Machine for the release of his debut 12” Brat Farrar.  Don’t expect Brat to come back though, because he plans to spend the rest of the year lounging about Europe (we can only imagine) to get higher than he’s even been.

Have a listen HERE.

Finally to wrap shit up, the drugged out surf riffs of Thee Hugs have finally been laid to 4-track and will be releasedas a 12” through Long Gone before the year is out.  Also, we’re pleased to announce this year that we’re workingwith the doo-whop shenanigans of the Majors to release a cassette of their adventures.  We’re also pretty sure Woodboot is going to do something, but as they are ‘the band that Brisbane deserve’, ‘Too Old for this Sh!t’ and quite frankly ‘One Day away from Retirement’, we can’t expect them to have much free time to work with us.
