The Return of an Extra Ordinary Night

THEN: After the closure of the Step Inn, our monthly shows were put onto hiatus while we looked for a new venue.

NOW: Thanks to a young man named, Cowboy Bob, the Long Gone ‘Extravaganza’ has returned.  Our first show back is on Friday, January 20th at the Primitive Room which is located upstairs at the recently reopened Spring Hill Hotel.  This special reunion will be brought together with Thee Hugs (recording material for Long Gone very soon!!), Byron Bay’s very own the Ganaschz, local rats Sewers and newcomers the Venereals (crammed from a bunch of other shitty Brisbane bands).  $10 gets you in the door, and a good ear keeps you entertained.

Also this week, Tiny Migrants support legendary lap steel sliding cowboy, Spencer P Jones (formerly of Beasts of Bourbon, the Johnnys, Chris Bailey and the General Dog) at Ric’s tonight from 8pm.  Free Entry and next door has $5 steaks. Over the past 20 years Spencer has dropped solo record after solo record into his utility belt, so if you don’t know who Spencer P Jones is, then you’re a fucking idiot – come to Ric’s idiot!  Spencer P Jones also plays Beetle Bar on Friday night with support from SixFtHick, HITS, DJ Wolf Trash and more.

Friday night sees Velociraptor curate a night of new year’s fun for ‘Jurassic Party’ at Alhambra Lounge.  Tickets from Oztix available here or grab one on the door if you think you’re lucky.  Supporting the band are their local brethren, Keep On Dancin’s, the Sulphur Lights, Tiny Migrants, Cannon, Running Gun Sound and the Majors.

The Madisons have made their mark in town in a short period and they’re bring your New Years to a close.  Earl Grey and Woodland host a ‘Super Heroes’ new year’s bash for all you costume loving hooligans.  The Madisons countdown to midnight alongside first timers the Occults and the surf withdrawals of Thee Hugs.  DJ Checkers and Velociraptor DJ’s also join the mix.

Long Gone? OCD?

Over the past month, Long Gone have chained in their basement a young local five piece by the name of Cannon.  Hosed down on a ritual two hour basis, with a screwdriver held to their necks, the band were forced to record; they became deranged and hostile.  The tapes are being mixed.  The band are being released.

In the mean time you can download the Cannon/Cobwebbs Split CDR here.

"Since Chinese Burns pack up their bags the Brisbane garage scene has been a bit turgid...thankfully there's some young blood on the scene...the band's name is Cannon.
Pooling for the poppy garage side of Tyvek, aus retardation garage that the UV Race have perfected and the party band thing that Black Lips do so well." - Male Problem

Cannon play "Too For Splendour 2011" on Saturday, the 30th of July alongside Cobwebbs, Pink Services, Horsemouth, the Mouldy Lovers and many more.  Tickets are available at Rocking Horse for $15 + BF.  For all the details head here.

Growing Pains

It's been a little while but we're busy preparing shit.  We've got a youtube account now plus some other stuff building up on the way so keep your eyes and ears peeled as Long Gone emerges.

Another Front Bar Extravaganza is upon us and it may possible be the last in this room, - this is not a threat, although it could be if you want it to - but never fear as we will be back.  This line up features past guests Running Guns and Cobwebbs but also brings a couple of new friends along as well.

Local crunch two-piece Tiny Spiders will be joining the line up, opening the festivities for all while. Our second guests (another two-piece) the Ganarszh hail from Byron in NSW and are looking to show y'all some fuzzed out garage pop.  Their free EP entitled 'Jungle Party' is available to download here.

In other news, our youtube has proudly posted two efforts from good friends Cannon and more recently Thee Hugs who return to the stage to play X&Y this Sunday night with Drunk Mums from Sydney.

Tiny Spiders also play X&Y this Friday night with chimpanzombies Undead Apes & Tiny Migrants.

Get the shit out and about this weekend.

Fruit Cup Crush Cordial Strike!!

Where is all the Fruit Cup Crush Cordial??  Did someone take it because it's amazing?  Did Golden Circle stop producing the drink because of unpopularity?  Did all the Fruit Cup Crush in the world disappear?

All I can say for sure is, I can't find Fruit Cup Crush Cordial anywhere and I fucking love that shit.  Better than girls and spaghetti.

Bored?  What to do?  Shit to do this week:

No...well it is.

What are you looking at Dicknose?

So our last show was shut down due to fire hazards and obstructed exits so Tiny Migrants and the Nugs weren't able to perform.  Thanks to everyone who came along to see Strange Attractors and Main Street Brats 'cause they totally killed it.

We are however having another show on Friday, May 20th at the Step Inn.  We're not sure of the room just yet, but the night will feature Butcher Birds, Dreamtime, Heart Flew and the debut show of the Lemonaids.  Doors open at 8pm and it's still only $5.
